
Geographical Location
LOBO is one of the municipalities of Batangas which lies at the province’s Southeastern coast. It’s boundaries are Batangas City on the west, the town of Taysan and Rosario on the north, San Juan on the east and the Verde Island Passage on the south.
Lobo has a distance of approximately 148 kilometers from Manila and 36 kilometers from Batangas City, the Provincial Capital.
Topography
Topographically, Lobo is bounded by hills and mountains on both North and West. The most prominent of which is the scenic Mount Banoy which is located in the northern part of the town. Its elevation is about 768 meters above sea level. The highest peak is the Mount Lobo which is approximately 1,007 meters above sea level.
Land Area
The total land area of LOBO is 19,268 hectares or 192.68 square kilometers. Of the 19,268 hectares of land, 14,933.4782 hectares are agricultural areas.
Population
Lobo has a total population of 36,596 per 2007 census of population. There are about 8,193 households in the entire municipality.
Classification
Lobo rose from a fourth class to third class municipality in 2005.
Natural Resources
Blessed with rich natural resources, Lobo’s forest lands comprise 4,366.8 hectares, integrated social forestry area of 2,100 hectares, and grazing area of 1,585.6 hectares.
Major Products
Some of the major products of Lobo are rice, corn, coconut, vegetables, fruits, fish and rootcrops.
Leading Cottage Industries
Known leading cottage industries of Lobo are production of sweet tamarind, bagoong, kaing and ookan.
Small Scale Industries
There is one (1) oil mill in Lobo, Perez and Sons Coconut Oil Mill. There are also numbers of copra warehouses in the area.
